T. Thomas Kane, bass, has a passion for music and education. He earned a Bachelor of Music Performance in voice from Baker University. He spent quite a few years out of the music industry not long after college only to reintroduce himself after moving to the East Coast in 2005. Since then, he sang professionally with All Saints Episcopal Choir under Tom Colao and the Glassbrook vocal Ensemble under Chaequan Anderson. Currently, he sings as the bass ringer for the Trenton Diocesan Choir under Shawn Mack. He is also concurrently active as professional choral freelancer in the “church circuit,” singing in many churches throughout Central and North Jersey including: The Parish of St. Mary in Colts Neck, NJ, under Andrew Macirowski; The Oratory Church of St. Anthony in Red Bank, NJ, under Shawn Mack; St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield under Mark Hyczko; St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair, NJ, under the direction of Warren Carr; the UMC of Haddonfield/The New Jersey Masterchorale in Haddonfield, NJ, under the direction of Matt Smith and Jason Vodicka (respectively)'; and Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, NJ, under Matt Turk, just to name a few.
Professionally, he has been working in the mental health or school system for over 30 years. However, 11 years ago, he found his niche teaching 3rd through 8th grade general music at Mercer Elementary School in Hamilton, NJ, specializing in working with students with developmental/emotional disabilities of varying levels and severities. Here he uses different music methodologies and pedagogies to aid the students’ continuing physical, psychological, social, and emotional progression and development.
