Benjamin Gonczi is a music educator, conductor, vocalist, and composer originally from Wilmington, DE. He holds his Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. While there, he sang under the direction of Dr. Amanda Quist as a member of the renowned Frost Chorale and under the direction of Dr. Kate Reid as a member of Jazz Voice Ensemble 1. Opportunities to perform alongside Voces8, and to be a Teaching Assistant for the Miami Children’s Chorus inspired Benjamin to pursue his Master of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of Delaware, through which he served as the School of Music’s Graduate Choral Activities Manager. Through this experience, Benjamin had the pleasure of honing his craft in a variety of ways, from conducting UD Chorale and UD Schola Cantorum, to serving as the clinician for two public school honor choirs, to conducting the pit orchestra for the University of Delaware Lyric Theater’s Fall 2024 production. Ben’s tutelage at the University of Delaware also served as a conduit for his participation in the Delaware Choral Scholars’ international competitive choir, which received a number-one world ranking from Interkultur following the 2024 World Choir Games in Auckland, New Zealand. Following this success in New Zealand, Benjamin was also a 2025 Chanticleer Audition Finalist, and a First-Round Auditioner for Voces8’s 2026 Tenor Search.

Now having finished graduate school, Ben has proudly assumed the role of Vocal and General Music Teacher at Louis L. Redding Middle School in Middletown, DE. When he is not teaching, Ben continues to also sing with the Delaware Choral Scholars, and the Baltimore-based Dualis ensemble. He hopes to be able to share his fiery passion for choral education, performance, and composition with as many students as possible, and teach budding musicians how to use their voices for good!
